From palm-lined fairways to reef-and-rainforest adventures, discover why Australia’s sunniest playground is the perfect place to tee off, chill out and explore.
North Queensland serves up a style of golf you won’t find anywhere else in the country – a tropical blend of adventure, relaxation and wide-open fairways framed by some of Australia’s most dramatic landscapes.
From the glittering Coral Sea to the ancient rainforests of the Daintree, the region offers a play-and-stay escape where the journey is every bit as memorable as the golf itself. Here, winter barely exists, making it a year-round haven for southerners chasing sunshine, warm breezes and courses that feel a world away from the everyday.

Whether you’re teeing off beneath palm trees, navigating fairways shaped by volcanic hills or watching wildlife graze near the greens, North Queensland’s courses deliver a unique Australian flavour. Off the course, the possibilities are endless: reef trips, rainforest walks, island hopping, fresh seafood and laid-back coastal towns that welcome golfers with open arms. It’s the perfect base for couples, families or mates’ trips looking to mix quality golf with unforgettable experiences.
In short, North Queensland is more than a holiday – it’s a full-swing adventure, offering the ideal blend of play, explore and unwind. Don’t believe us? Tee it up at these four courses.

Cairns Golf Club
Just 10 minutes from the Cairns CBD, Cairns Golf Club stands as one of Far North Queensland’s premier golf destinations. Its 18-hole, par-72 championship course carries more than a century of history, originally created by Australian golf pioneer Carnegie Clark and redesigned by Ross Watson in 1992. Today, the layout continues to evolve, with a recently introduced three-tier, skill-based tee system that allows an enjoyable round for beginners while still offering seasoned players a challenge.

What truly sets the club apart is its tropical character. The fairways are framed by lush vegetation while the surrounding Macalister Range forms a stunning backdrop. Off the course, golfers can sharpen their skills at the full-length, floodlit driving range with 20 bays, browse the well-appointed golf shop staffed by PGA professionals, or enjoy a relaxed drink or bite to eat in the clubhouse.
Whether playing socially or soaking up a true tropical golf experience, Cairns Golf Club captures the spirit of Far North Queensland.
