Teven Valley Golf Course
Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Byron–Ballina Hinterland lies a truly special golf experience – Teven Valley Golf Course. Designed by Australian great Craig Parry, this picturesque nine-hole layout has earned the title of Australia’s premier nine-hole course and is the only one in the country to feature Zoysia grass from tee to green.
While compact in size, Teven Valley is rich in character. The course flows through rainforest pockets and freshwater streams, offering both natural beauty and strategic bite. The finishing hole – an uphill par 3 nicknamed “The Scorpion” [below] – is as tough as it is memorable.
Recently chosen to host a NSW Open Regional Qualifier, the course left a lasting impression on professionals with its pristine surfaces and clever design.
Teven is a walking-only course ($60 per round) with pull buggies included and clubs available for hire. After your game, enjoy a cold drink or fresh coffee from the clubhouse deck, taking in panoramic views of the fairways and hinterland.

Sandgate Golf Club
Sandgate Golf Club, established in 1921, is one of Queensland’s oldest and most charming nine-hole courses. Nestled on Brisbane’s northern bayside, just 16 kilometres from the CBD and 15 minutes from the airport, it offers easy access and a relaxed, community-focused golf experience. Its natural coastal setting and century-old heritage make it a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Social golfers are welcome after 11am Monday to Thursday, and from 3pm Saturdays after club competitions, with most Fridays and Sundays also open. Bondi Golf & Diggers Club
Some of the most jaw-dropping views of any public golf course in New South Wales can be found at the charming, nine-hole Bondi Golf & Diggers Club, where golfers soak up the panoramic scenes of the Tasman Sea, Sydney skyline and Bondi Beach.
The nine-hole layout is so revered by serious and beginner golfers alike that this clifftop gem was even featured on the wildly popular golf podcast No Laying Up’s “Tourist Sauce” showcase episode on YouTube that profiled Sydney in 2024.
Golf architecture buffs will appreciate the sandy, firm soil, similar to links terrain in Scotland, while all players will enjoy the quirkiness of eight par 3s and one 280-metre par 4, which requires a driver or 3-wood tee shot around a 30-metre tower vent that is heritage listed.
Bondi is sensational value at $35 for 18 holes ($37 on weekends) or $30 for nine ($35 on weekends). You’ve also got to love their motto, “We’re a casual bunch, so tee-times are not required – just rock up and wait for your turn to tee off.”

Just minutes from central Geelong, Geelong Golf Club offers one of Australia’s top nine-hole layouts – perfect for a quick 90-minute round. Designed by Graham Papworth, the course features Santa Ana couch fairways, bentgrass greens, and a fun mix of par 3s, 4s and a par 5. Facilities include a spacious practice area, chipping and putting greens, pro shop, beer garden and more. PGA professional coaching is also available. Regency Park Community Golf Course
Just 15 minutes from Adelaide CBD, Regency Park Community Golf Course offers a relaxed, welcoming golf experience seven days a week. With pure, bentgrass greens and great year-round conditions, it’s the perfect spot for players of all levels. There’s no dress code, music is welcome and even dogs can tag along. Cart and equipment hire are available, and online bookings are open to everyone. For groups larger than eight players, including social and corporate bookings, contact the team directly to book.
