Last week we shared the (viral) video of PGA Tour pro Zac Blair going “undercover” to get a club fitting. We found it funny and good-natured. Sure, the guy doing the club fitting took some ribbing for not realising he was working with a PGA Tour pro, but Blair’s overall point is that he isn’t recognisable and the 168-centimetre, short-hitting (by PGA Tour standards) golfer doesn’t give off pro-athlete vibes when you look at him.
If you haven’t seen the video, it’s worth a watch, although, now we’ve kind of spoiled the plot for you. Just like people on social media have tried to spoil the video.
That’s because there were many who said mean things about the clubfitter in the video. There were also many people who said mean things about Blair. Both were uncalled for. And it’s kind of sad that we just can’t watch what was meant to be a fun video and share a laugh together. But on the bright side, this situation has a happy ending – because of a cool backstory.
Other side note .. I do feel bad people have taken it the wrong way and it’s blown up the way it has. Nic was fantastic and I enjoyed having him out to the 3m yesterday. He cheered me on all day and has been a great sport about the entire situation.

The clubfitter involved is Nic Urban, who is also an assistant golf pro at The Wilds Golf Club and the Minnesota Golf Association’s ambassador for adaptive golf. Urban won the 2024 Michigan Adaptive Golf Tournament Championsip in the G-15 Autism/Down Syndrome Class category. And he’s a big reason for the first-ever Minnesota Adaptive Golf Open, which will be held from September 26-28 at Braemar Golf Club.
So forgive Nic for thinking he could beat Blair. The guy is a great player, who will represent Minnesota at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games next year. Not to mention, a bit of a local legend. Anyway, Blair made good on his promise to have Nic out at the 3M Open, where he finished T-44:

And then Blair used his platform – and the club Nic expertly fitted him for – to raise money for Youth on Course, another one of Urban’s causes:

Good stuff. So, keep an eye out for what Nic does next. And if you’re a clubfitter, keep an eye out for a short golfer who comes into your store with someone else recording the fitting.
