In the least surprising news of this PGA Tour season, Scottie Scheffler carded a bogey-free 68 on Saturday at Muirfield Village that featured four birdies over the last five holes. The unconscious finish put him at eight under and gave him the solo 54-hole lead at the Memorial Tournament. Same old, same old.

The person least shocked of all may have been Scheffler’s caddie Ted, who has had a front-row seat to his greatness for nearly four years now. He’s seen the World No. 1’s unmatched consistency and beared witness to the endless hours of work that have helped Scheffler get to where he is in the game.Â
Naturally, following the third round, Scheffler made his way to the range and began yet another stripe show. One fan shouted out to Scheffler, asking him to “save those shots for tomorrow.” Scott had the perfect response for that.Â
“Don’t be fooled, kid,” Scott said. “Plenty more where that came from.”

Even Scottie had to laugh at that one. Scottie Scheffler doesn’t “save shots” for tomorrow. He simply hits the ball in the center of the club face over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. When he does hit a bad one, it’s barely off his target line and he goes and finds it and makes par, sometimes better. He’s a different breed.Â
The Jordan Shrug says it all:
Scottie by five.Â
