Two days before his return to competitive golf, Tiger Woods appeared at ease, continually asserting to the media that he’s pain free for the first time in years.
As his stature has rocketed the past season, it’s rare for Justin Thomas to be upstaged on the marquee, particularly in his own pairing. But this is no ordinary pairing.
“For the first time since 2010, it looks like a swing he can play with. I know what he can play with and what he can’t play with. And I feel he can play with that swing.”
We’ll never beat Arnie and Jack for pure competitive drama, but Jack and Tiger as historical theater has been pretty good, too. Now, after a layoff of 466 days from competition by Tiger Woods, we may see interest pick up again in his pursuit of Jack Nicklaus’ majors record.
Sadly, it’s become commonplace on Twitter to provide updates of Tiger Woods’ falling Official World Golf Ranking each week. Essentially, these tweets read as so: “Tiger Woods is now (blank) in the Official World Golf Ranking. He’s one spot above (Insert name of a golfer you’ve never heard of) and one spot below (Insert name of another golfer you’ve never heard of).”
