If you’re the type who likes to wait until the very last minute to purchase a ticket for a sporting event, you’re looking like a genius right now.

When prices were originally announced for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, golf fans were stunned to find out it would cost them $750 to attend one of the three competition days. A practice round would run you $255. Oddly enough, $750 sounded reasonable when folks started getting hit with extra fees when they went to buy on sites like Seatgeek:

In contrast, tickets for the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone in Rome, Italy were between €50 ($52.97) and €60 ($63.56) for the practice days, €250 ($264.83) for Friday and Saturday tickets and €260 ($275.42) for Sunday. A nearly $500 difference for a competition day in 2025 and a nearly $200 difference for a practice day.

This undoubtedly turned some hardworking fans away and turned into quite the firestorm on social media. But if you’re still not angry enough to boycott the event entirely, you can get a ticket for Sunday singles for nearly half the original price of a competition day on the secondary market right now. All thanks to the European blowout.

Yes, that $383 number is the actual price including fees. What a bargain! Of course, that doesn’t include transportation, parking if you need it, and all the other tack-ons that coming with getting to a sporting event in the New York-area. It does include food and drink (no alcohol), which, as someone who attended Friday without a media credential, was pretty solid and accessible.

The question is, is that reduced price event worth it with the score 11.5 to 4.5 in favor of Europe? If you’re European, maybe. All we know is, it’s a bad day to be an American that dropped over a grand for a Sunday ticket before the event started with dreams of a red, white and blue victory. Those people are in our thoughts right now.
