Unless you play fantasy golf or were one of the 15 PGA Tour pros awaiting your fate, you probably didn’t follow too closely what happened on Friday evening at the Rocket Classic. But there was a pretty wild swing involving the cut line near the end of the second round at Detroit Golf Club. And one golfer, not surprisingly, had a funny message to those affected after.

We say “not surprisingly,” because that golfer is Michael Kim. And as golf fans are well aware, he’s one of Golf Twitter’s finest. So when he three-putted his final hole to help move the cut line from seven under to six under, you had to expect he’d have a good reaction. Like this:
If any of these players are wondering, my locker is wayyy in the back right corner. A token of appreciation for my 3 putt on the last hole to push the cut to -6 will be much appreciated.

If even a handful of those 15 golfers show him any appreciation, that three-putt could actually make him money. It certainly was huge for Will Gordon, who was making his final start of a major medical exemption and kept his PGA Tour card because of it. Yeah, he might want to leave a bottle of wine in Michael’s locker.
But even if no one gives Michael anything, it also served to get on the good side of his potential Ryder Cup captain.Because as you can see by that screenshot, Keegan Bradley was one of those 15 golfers moving on to the weekend to make a paycheck because of Kim’s closing bogey. And Kim was well aware of that as well.
I’m not saying I did this for Captain Bradley but I’m not denying that I did see him name at -6 while I was playing my 17th hole…

Kim is currently No. 24 on the Team USA standings so he’s going to have to do a lot more than that to earn a captain’s pick from Keegan, but that can’t hurt. Anyway, well played by Michael as always. Even if it wasn’t well played on that final green.
