Just days after LIV Golf confirmed its return to Adelaide for February 13–15, 2026, the breakaway league has announced South Africa will join the 2026 schedule with a new event The Club at Steyn City near Johannesburg from March 20–22.

LIV will now visit five continents in a single season in 2026 with Adelaide once again a key stop on the calendar and now Johannesburg adding a fresh dimension a month later.

The South African quartet of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace and Dean Burmester—the four members of Stinger GC— said it was a “dream come true” to bring a tournament to their homeland.

“It’s always special to compete at home, and I’m incredibly proud to bring LIV Golf to South Africa for the first time,” said Oosthuizen, who won the 2010 Open Championship at St Andrews. “For Branden, Charl, Dean and I to play in front of our fans, friends and families will be an unforgettable experience. South Africa has given so much to us, and now we get to give something back.”

The tournament will be played at The Club at Steyn City, a Jack Nicklaus design just north of Johannesburg. The course is no stranger to top-level golf, having hosted the DP World Tour’s Steyn City Championship in 2022—where Shaun Norris beat Burmester by three shots—and the Jonsson Workwear Open in 2023, which was won by Germany’s Nick Bachem.

The move has been several years in the making. Back in early 2025, Oosthuizen told Golf Monthly earlier this year that there was “a lot of work happening behind the scenes” to bring LIV to South Africa and that the team was “fighting hard” to make it happen.

For Australian fans keeping tabs on LIV’s 2026 buildout, the league now has firm dates locked in for Adelaide (Feb 13–15), Johannesburg (Mar 20–22), and JCB Golf & Country Club in the UK (Jul 24–26), with more events expected to be confirmed in coming months.
