We love to be hyperbolic sometimes. It’s a blessing and a curse, but we live in a here-and-now world. But Sahith Theegala’s sorcery at the 16th hole on Sunday was worthy of putting him in the same breath of Tiger Woods (for one shot at least).

Sahith Theegala is having the kind of Sunday at Augusta National you dream about – and that was even before the wizardry he exhibited at the 16th hole.

The 26-year-old flew up the leaderboard, five-under for his day, as he flew the 16th green by a mile and faced a tricky shot through a chute of patrons.

Of course, if he got the speed right and used the slope to this Sunday pin, he’d be able to get out of there with a par and keep his momentum going.

Theegala had his sights on something bigger.

Just unbelievable stuff. Back-nine Augusta National stuff is happening with Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson making huge runs and Cameron Young entering the conversation. But this Theegala chip-in is the highlight of Sunday thus far.

Not nearly on the level of Tiger, given the level of difficulty to the spot in which Tiger was chipping from, plus the circumstances with Tiger and DiMarco duking it out. But still, Theegala’s chip is one we’ll always remember.
