No matter how the 2025 Walker Cup unfolds, it’s hard to imagine any of the young men (and Stewart Hagestad) not considering it a dream week. An extended stay-and-play at Cypress Point? How could it get any better for a golfer?

Well, it did for one on Thursday.

Forget about a dream week, Luke Poulter had a dream day during a practice round ahead of the competition, which pits Team USA against a squad representing Great Britain and Ireland, starts on Saturday. In a three-hole stretch, the Brit and University of Florida junior holed out for an eagle and then made his first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 third.

Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine snapped a photo and a video of Poulter, who knocked in a 9-iron from 155 yards.

Just an absurd three-hole stretch by the young man.

And if that last name sounds familiar, well, it should. Luke’s dad is Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter. And if his son is even a fraction of the problem Ian was for American teams for a couple decades, this U.S. Walker Cup squad could be in trouble.
