Lee Westwood is listed as a 600-to-1 longshot for this week’s Open Championship, the first major he’s played in three years. But if there was an Open trivia contest, we’d have to make the 52-year-old the heavy favourite.

That’s because LIV Golf released a video of the former world No.1 recalling winners of the claret jug going back in time. And he nearly made it all the way to his birth year of 1973.
Have a look at this jaw-dropping display of (golf) memory:

That is truly impressive stuff. As you can see, Westy was finally tripped up by 1976, guessing Gary Player instead of winner Johnny Miller. And somewhere, Johnny will probably take that as a huge slight. Westwood also mucks up who our own Jack Newton lost to in a playoff (saying Jack Nicklaus rather than Tom Watson – and that happened in 1975, not 1978). But it’s an impressive recall nonetheless.
Anyway, good luck to Lee at Royal Portrush this week. And if he misses the cut, he could always stick around the clubhouse performing this cool party trick.
