Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin trolls Auburn coach Hugh Freeze over ‘too much golf’ critics

Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels and Hugh Freeze’s Auburn Tigers will not meet on the football field in 2025. They didn’t meet in 2024, either. But if you think that’s going to stop Kiffin from trolling Freeze on Twitter/X, then you just don’t know Kiffin very well.

For those who don’t live, eat and breathe college football (non-SEC people), you may have not heard that Freeze has recently come under fire for his recruiting prowess, or lack thereof. Auburn has seen a number of big-time prospects decommitt recently, which is always going to send a SEC fanbase into a tizzy.

This has led to some speculation on message boards that the amount of golf Freeze is playing might be to blame for Auburn’s recruiting Ls. Naturally, Kiffin must have heard about this speculation, then he promptly dug up an old Freeze tweet and trolled away:

Peak Kiffin. Any time he can insert himself into the mix, even when it has nothing to do with him, he’s happy to do so. 

At Matt Stahl of AL.com pointed out, Freeze posted 10 rounds on GHIN just in the month of June alone. Even if that has nothing to do with recruiting, that’s always going to be tough to stomach for a fanbase, especially when their program is ranked in the bottom of the SEC in recruiting rankings. At a school with the resources Auburn has, that’s not going to fly.
