On Sunday evening, Captain America—AKA Keegan Bradley—rallied from three shots down at TPC River Highlands to claim his second Travelers Championship title. The win piqued the interest of the golf world for various reasons, notably reigniting the debate about Bradley potentially becoming the first Ryder Cup player-captain since Arnold Palmer in 1962. Fans and pundits speculated endlessly on what’s to come, but only one clip in the deluge of Keegan content—old footage from his college golf application video—reminded us where the 2025 Ryder Cup captain came from. Unsurprisingly, it was the best of the bunch.

Amazing stuff. From the beanie to the baggy pants, the early aughts nostalgia is strong with this one. It’s also fascinating to hear Keegan’s father, PGA Professional Mark Bradley, talk about how his son grew up around the game and embraced it from a young age. That much can be seen in Keegan’s fluid, youthful swing, which contains echoes of his current move throughout. His swing is bit shorter now and his posture at address and finish is less upright, but the bones are still there.
This video would catch the eye of St. John’s University, where Bradley went on to win nine collegiate tournaments and three Big East Player of the Year awards, earning All-American status during his senior season with the Red Storm. In 2020, he was inducted into the St. John’s Athletics Hall of Fame. Needless to say, Bradley has a decorated history of team golf on his CV, but whether that’s enough to earn him player-captain status come Spetember remains to be seen. For now, we’re just enjoying the Summer of Keegan.
