Last Thursday, LIV Golf held its inaugural “Showcase” Awards show on FS1, a celebration of standout performances and defining moments from the 2025 season. The awards were broken into four different categories: Player-voted, Fan-voted, Committee-voted and League-directed.

In the Player-voted Awards category, there were five total awards, including MVP and Clutch Player of the Year. Joaquin Niemann, who won five times in 2025, won the former, while Jon Rahm, who did not win at all on LIV in 2025, won the latter.

Last we checked, the word clutch is used to describe those who come up huge when the game, or the tournament, is on the line. Something Rahm has done countless times in his career. His two major championship victories were the definition of clutch.

As for his 2025 season on LIV, not only did Rahm not win, but he actually lost in two separate playoffs. Even Rahm himself would tell you he did not come up clutch. But, alas, the players voted him as the CPOY.

On this week’s episode of The Loop podcast, we discuss Rahm’s dubious award, as well as some other major LIV news from last week. Plus, we chat with two-time MLB All-Star Jeff McNeil, who is playing in the LPGA’s Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions this week, a tournament he won the celebrity portion of in 2024. The former New York Met-turned Athletic tells us where his golf game is at and shares a great story about finding out he had been traded on the golf course. Please, have a listen below, and like and subscribe to The Loop wherever you get your podcasts.
