The golf world nearly lost John Daly on Sunday. And not how anyone would have expected.
The PGA Tour Champions star was playing in the Cologuard Classic when he found a native area at Tucson’s La Paloma Country Club. Moments later, he needed to be found after briefly disappearing into the desert.

Wild stuff! As you can see, the two-time major champ loses his footing and does a full bellyflop, sliding down the hill and out of sight. Daly credited musician Joel Cooley for being a “true buddy sliding into a save.”
Impressively, Daly hit what looked to be a solid shot before losing his balance. And he still shot 68 to finish T-29 in the event won by Steven Alker in a playoff over Padraig Harrington.
Anyway, we’re glad to hear the 59-year-old was OK and cracking jokes about it. And to everyone out there, be careful in those native areas.
