How a simple frisbee can unlock better ball-striking.

When you examine the physical movements required, it is little wonder that throwing a frisbee and golf were joined to form disc golf. The transfer of weight and the positioning of the hands at release when throwing a frisbee can draw several parallels with what we want to create in the golf swing.

Find a frisbee and take it to the park. As you start to throw it, transfer your weight to your right side (for right-handed golfers), feel your body move back towards the target and then bring your lead arm through to release. You will notice as you release the frisbee, your knuckles will be pointing down towards the ground. This is the same position we want at impact with a golf club. Throwing a frisbee requires correct sequencing of the large muscle groups, and a golf swing is no different. Let the body lead, and your arms and hands will follow.
