Scottie Scheffler is making his first start of the season this week at The American Express event in the Coachella Valley, where three courses are played in a rotation.

Players will play the Pete Dye Stadium Course, La Quinta Country Club and the Nicklaus Tournament Course the first three days before there’s a cut. Those remaining will play the final round at the Stadium Course where $1.656 million is on the line for the winner from the $9.2 million purse.

Aside from the PGA Tour Player of the Year, this is one of the strongest fields the event has had in quite some time with five top-10 ranked players in the field and 10 of the top 25. That includes Russell Henley (5), Robert MacIntyre (6), Ben Griffin (8) and Justin Rose (10).

Will Zalatoris is playing for the first time since the PGA Championship last May after dealing with more lingering injuries. Matt Fitzpatrick, Adam Scott and Ludvig Aberg are all playing here for the first time.

The American Express counts toward the Aon Swing 5 where the top five in FedEx Cup point after the WM Phoenix Open will earn spots into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn who makes the cut. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
