It’s the inaugural year for the Black Desert Championship in Utah, and tournament organizers have pulled out all the stops, even flying much of the field via charter from last week’s Chevron Championship up to Black Desert Resort.
(Our Jill Painter Lopez did a great job profiling the perks this week.)
World No. 1 Nelly Korda is not in the field as she hosts her own AJGA event in Florida this week. But there are plenty of other tops players playing for the $3 million overall purse, with the winner taking home $450,000 for a victory on Sunday. It’s one of the biggest non-major purses on the LPGA this year.
Seventeen players inside the top 25 in the world are competing, as are five players who have won this season and 20 LPGA rookies. Mao Saigo, winner of the Chevron Championship last week via a five-person playoff in Texas, is in Utah. The other four members of that playoff—Ariya Jutanugarn, Ruoning Yin, Lindy Duncan and Hyo Joo Kim— are also in the field.
Here is the rundown of what each player will earn who makes the cut this week in Utah. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
