Big surprise, Scottie Scheffler is defending another title.
The World No. 1 is back at the Travelers Championship to try to win again at TPC River Highlands, a week after a seventh-place tie at the U.S. Open. Last year here, Scheffler topped Tom Kim in a playoff.
Scheffler leads to 72-man signature event, where each of the top 10 players in the world are competing, playing for the $20 million purse, with the winner taking home $3.6 million. In all, 45 of the top 50 in the world are in action.

The most recent major champion, J.J. Spaun, is back quickly after a life-changing victory on Sunday at Oakmont. The U.S. Open champion, who birdied the last two holes on a brutally difficult day, will see if his good form can continue over another week, or if the thrill of a draining week in Pennsylvania is too much to duplicate. He’s playing the Travelers Championship for the first time since 2023 and has missed the cut three of the last four times he’s played in the event.
This week marks the third straight week that World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is playing. He missed the cut in Canada and tied for 19th last week at the U.S. Open. He has finished inside the top 20 each time he’s played at TPC River Highlands. He and Scheffler are the PGA Tour’s only three-time winners this year.
Luke Clanton, Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland and Tom Kim collected the four sponsor invites in Connecticut. Xander Schauffele (2022 champion), Viktor Hovland (third place last week at the U.S. Open) and Keegan Bradley (the 2023 champion and U.S. Ryder Cup captain) are other notables who will have large followings this week in New England.
Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn this week. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
