The year’s second major championship is complete and Xander Schauffele is a happy man. The PGA Tour, however, now is back in Texas as we start to creep closer toward the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.
Although Schauffele walked away with the Wanamaker Trophy, the man who made the most headlines last week at Valhalla is in the field this week at the Charles Schwab Challenge. That’d be World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who was arrested Friday morning before his second round at the PGA Championship and still went on to record his 10th top-10 finish in 11 events this year.
The last two years at Colonial Country Club, he’s tied for third and tied for second place respectively. He and the rest of the field will be competing for a first-place check of $1.638 million from the $9.1 million overall purse.

Schauffele’s closest pursuer at the PGA heading into Sunday is also in action at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Collin Morikawa was tied to start the final round and tied for fourth place. He has never missed a cut in this event.
Max Homa, Brian Harman, Keegan Bradley, Jordan Spieth and Tony Finau also are in an impressive field for the week following a major.
Here is the prize money breakdown for all players who make the cut this week in Texas. Check back here shortly after play is done on Sunday for updates.
