It’s Genesis Invitational week, but the tour is not at the venerable Riviera Country Club. So no, we won’t be watching the best players in the world attempting to negotiate the wildly fascinating par-4 10th hole.

Out of respect for the Los Angeles wildfires, the tour, host Tiger Woods and his foundation opted to move the signature event south to Torrey Pines, where Harris English just won the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago. Woods was scheduled to play this week but withdrew over the weekend, saying he wasn’t ready to play and that he was still in the process of mourning his mother, Kultida, who died last week at age 80.

Seventy-two top players are in San Diego, however, led by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. They’re all playing for a $20 million purse, with the winter taking home $4 million for his victory on Sunday.

Hideki Matsuyama is back to defend his 2024 title, but again, it’s at a different course this year. The star from Japan cruised at the Sentry to start the year and does have five top-20 finishes at Torrey Pines. Rory McIlroy won his last start, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and hasn’t played at Torrey since 2021. He tied for seventh place here at the 2021 U.S. Open.

Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark and Viktor Hovland are the other players in the top 10 in the field, joining Scheffler, McIlroy and Matsuyama.

Here’s the breakdown of what each player will earn this week in San Diego. Check back here Sunday for updates after play is complete.
