With a third-round 65, American Angel Yin charged to the top of the leaderboard, getting to 12 under after 54 holes at Qizhong Garden Golf Club to grab a share of the lead in her quest for a first LPGA title. She’s now tied with Maja Stark, the Swede shooting a two-under 70. Yin and Stark, although never playing one another, were on opposite sides last month when the U.S. and Europe played to a 14-14 tie at Finca Cortesin in Spain.
Of course, it’s not a two-player clash come Sunday. One back is Thailand’s Pavarisa Yoktuan. And two back are Lilia Vu, Mi Hyang Lee and Ariya Jutanugarn in a tournament that is being held for the first time since 2019 after cancellations in recent years due to the COVID pandemic.

At stake in the first of four straight events being played in Asia: $2.1 million with the winner claiming a prize money payout of $315,000. For Yin, 25, the victory however is a more important reward than the prize money as she played in her 159th LPGA event of her career.
“I’m just going to try to live in the moment, what’s in front of me, and try to hit my shots and stop living in my own head and overthinking everything,” Yin said on Saturday. “And then if it works out, it works out, because golf is difficult, because it could be just like tomorrow is like today, you know, but we put an end to it.”
