They say the Masters doesn’t begin until the back nine on Sunday, but it certainly ends for many others well before that. For Cam Young, that disappointing moment came on Friday’s 16th hole in one of the most stunning displays of bad putting you’ll ever see.

After missing the green on the par 3, Young chipped to 12 feet, setting up a critical par putt to stay on the cut line at two over. Moments later, he walked off the hole with a triple bogey and a clip that quickly went viral on Golf Twitter.

Young’s par putt slid a foot by the cup, but then, inexplicably, he missed the one-foot comebacker. And then bricked another one from the same difference. And suddenly, golf fans were having flashbacks to Ernie Els’ six-putt on Augusta National’s first hole during the opening round of the 2016 Masters.

OK, we’ve described this insane sequence enough. Have a look for yourself:

Wow. Just wow. That’s beyond pros-are-just-like-us territory.

And the craziest part is that he didn’t slap at or backhand either putt. He hit both like normal putts. And they missed. From about one foot. And he’s one of the best golfers on the planet. Wild stuff.

Add it all up and those three putts needed from one foot gave Young a triple bogey. Clearly rattled, he bogeyed the final two holes to shoot 79 and miss the cut by five shots. And with a free weekend, we suggest him staying off Golf Twitter for a bit.
