Average Joes like us long to know what’s inside our favourite professional golfers’ bags. From the putter that turned them into a serial major winner, to the tricked-up driver that got them in hot water to the 3D-printed irons they had blessed by a controversial Creole witch doctor, we salivate for every morsel of gear gossip from golf’s rich and famous.
For the most part, their equipment remains unobtanium, but this week Bryson DeChambeau finally revealed the contents of his infamous bag, and, much to our surprise, it is all available right off the shelf. Check it out.

Yup, we mean his snack bag. But before you roll your eyes at the bait-and-switch, remember that DeChambeau’s fitness – especially his diet – has been a core sub-plot of his career. His legion of fans around the world have been clamouring to know how he stays fuelled up on the course, and now we have the answer.
Despite DeChambeau’s previous gastronomic experiments, his current goodie bag isn’t that exotic, either. There’s coconut strips, honey, a Hershey’s chocolate-flavoured protein bar, applesauce, another chocolate protein bar and fruit strips (a.k.a. the healthy Fruit Roll-Ups no one liked as a kid). It’s a far cry from the diet of Bryson DeChambloat in 2020, but who among us didn’t pack on a couple of COVID kilos?
All in all, it’s fairly conventional spread for a professional athlete, but clearly it works for DeChambeau, who clinched an automatic US Ryder Cup spot on the back of just eight eligible appearances this season. That honey packet may not hit quite like a beer and pie at the turn, but it’s hard to argue with the results.
