The opening tee shot of the BMW PGA Championship has yet to be struck, but it will be tough to top this knockout blow from a former boxer.

During Wednesday’s pro-am at Wentworth, Tony Bellew knocked in his second shot on the opening hole for an ALBATROSS. And fortunately, someone captured it on video. Not the actual shot, mind you, but Bellew’s celebration, which was just as good. Have a look:

Let’s see, you have a classic running around with arms spread. Then you have a near tackle from a caddie that leads into a somersault and a first-down point. And then catching his caddie and lifting him up. Pretty much checks all the celebration boxes there.
What a way to start your round! As someone pointed out, Wentworth’s first hole is a par 4 during the tournament, but it plays as a par 5 for members. So we’re not 100 percent sure what it plays as for a non-member, non-pro during a pro-am. But let’s just go with an albatross because that’s obviously a lot more impressive.
For those not aware, Bellew was a British boxing star until retiring in 2018 and becoming a boxing analyst. But he also played the role of Ricky Conlan in ‘Creed’ and ‘Creed III.’
So he’s a bit of a legend. And now he’s a legend with an albatross on his resume. Congrats, Tony. The rest of that round should be fun, huh?
