So let’s get this straight: Ben Griffin started double-double-bogey on Sunday, threatening to derail his entire season, because he accidentally overdosed on creatine!? Folks, Golf Digest has been around for 75 years, and this one is a first.

According to Griffin, he regularly takes creatine as a supplement, but he was at the bottom of his jar on Sunday and it had clumped up. He threw a couple of chunks in his water bottle, took a big swig and accidentally swallowed one. Shortly after, he said he felt like he had “tremors” and started “freaking out.” Fortunately, after his tee shot on the second hole sailed OB, Griffin said his caddie made him chug an entire water bottle and take a moment to calm down.

Soon after, things turned around for the former Tar Heel, who would go on to finish T12, comfortably qualifying for next week’s Tour Championship. Griffin will be hoping to clinch the biggest title of his career at East Lake next week, but something tells us he’ll be a little more careful about what he puts in his water bottle.
