Reports have surfaced that LIV Golf recruit Patrick Reed threw a tee at Rory McIlroy, after the world No.1 seemed to ignore Reed at the Emirates Golf Club, according to Spanish golf portal TenGolf.com.

Although the story no long appears TenGolf.com, numerous publications (including the New York Post and social media accounts have cited the potential interaction between the 2018 Masters champion and McIlroy.

Reed, who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf but is allowed to play DP World Tour events due to a UK sports arbitration decision temporarily paused a European Tour ban on LIV players, said hello to McIlroy’s caddie Harry Diamond, as reported by the Spanish golf portal TenGolf.com.

Reed then walked up to McIlroy, who was reportedly kneeling down on the turf, and stood near the Northern Irishman for several seconds. It is suggested McIlroy didn’t turn around to acknowledge Reed.

Reed is then suggested to have walked away after grabbing a tee out of his pocket and throwing it towards McIlroy.

Separately, Reed had defamation case against analyst Brandel Chamblee and Golf Channel dismissed on Friday by a federal judge in Florida.
