The fourth of five women’s majors is up this week in beautiful Evian-les-Bains, France, where 132 players are competing at the Amundi Evian Championship.

Forty-six of the top 50 ranked players in the world are playing, topped by World No. 1 Nelly Korda. Ayaka Furue is the defending champion and Frenchwoman Celine Boutier won in 2023.

Here’s more of a look inside the field, which is playing for an $8 million purse, with $1.2 million going to the champion.

There are nine past champions in the field. There is not a repeat winner this year on the LPGA, which is odd. But 18 of the 18 winners this year are all participating. There are 11 LPGA rookies playing, led by Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad and the Iwai twins, Akie and Chisato. There are four players from France playing.

There are four exemptions into the field for amateurs, but there are more than four amateurs in the field. Lottie Woad, the No. 1 ranked amateur in the world earned a sponsor exemption. Woad dominated the Women’s Irish Open last week and won by six, capturing her first professional title. She said she has no plans to turn professional yet, but she will have more decisions to make here over the next month.

Next week is the Women’s Scottish Open, then the AIG Women’s Open is the following week at Royal Porthcawl in Wales.

Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn this week who makes the cut. Those who miss the cut will earn a $3,000 stipend. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
