The week after a major championship is always interesting. The LPGA gets it right, luring its top players to play in a team championship, where having a partner alongside can help with some rest and relaxation. Or, at the very least, not be as stressful.
It was the Dow Championship at Midland Country Club in Michigan. Players teamed in a fun format that produced some fun names that you can read about here. The teams all played for a $3.3 million purse and winners Jin Hee Im and Somi Lee each took home $399,510. It was the first LPGA victory for both Im and Lee.
Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang shot a final-round 60 to get into a playoff but lost on the first extra hole. There was a two-way tie for third place.
There is now a week off, then a big stretch in Europe. The next major, the Amundi Evian Championship in France, the Women’s Scottish Open in Scotland and the AIG Women’s Open in Wales.
