Before Bryson DeChambeau was a mega-millionaire YouTube star, he made his name hitting bombs where few men could – or would – tread. Shots, like his infamous lake-cutting drive at the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational, will live on in golf infamy for years to come.
DeChambeau has since slimmed down and largely abandoned the “bomb and gouge” lifestyle, but he turned back the clock at Maridoe Golf Club – the site of this week’s LIV Golf Dallas event – when he decided to tee it up and go for the 16th green … from the clubhouse. Check it out:
Bryson gonna Bryson. Without a tracer or knowing exactly where DeChambeau played this shot from, it’s tough to truly grasp, but one enterprising sleuth in the comments seemed to identify the path of his mammoth drive. Let’s just say, it’s looks pretty daunting.
According to u/stinkbox1 (Reddit is a wild place, just go with it), that’s about 366 yards to the front edge. DeChambeau is leading LIV in driving distance so far this season, averaging 331.4 yards off the tee, so even by his standards, this is a rocket. Ultimately, it won’t help him claim his first LIV victory of the season – it’s purely stunt golf for stunt golf’s sake – but it’s still good to see Bryson up to his old tricks once again.
