Heather Angell was disqualified Thursday at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship for signing an incorrect scorecard after the first round.

Angell, a certified Class A PGA member, was disqualified under Rule 3.3b(3) for returning a scorecard with a score on a hole lower than she actually made. She signed for a 5 on the par-5 16th hole on Field Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Texas when her actual score was a 6.

She shot a 15-over 87 on Thursday.

Angell was the 2021 and 2024 South Florida PGA Southwest Teacher of the Year. She’s the director of instruction at the Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek in Naples, Fla. She played professionally from 2003 to 2019 and was playing in her second Women’s PGA Championship, having qualified for the Corebridge Financial Team this year by finishing in fifth place at the 2024 LPGA Professionals National Championship.

Jeeno Thitikul shot a four-under 68 to lead after the first round. Minjee Lee is a shot back in second place.
