Now partly owned by the Packer Family and the Crown Casino Group, Ellerston is an elusive golfing treasure tucked away in a beautiful riverside valley within the upper Hunter Valley. The Harrison-Norman design is noted for its daring, its bold, sand-splashed bunkering, fast greens and impossibly perfect grooming. Courses ranked second to seventh all finished within a point of each other this year. “Australia’s ultimate bucket-list golf course – private, premium and simply the most special experience,” says judge Phil Heads. “Some might say World Series Cricket was Kerry Packer’s greatest sporting legacy. Ellerston challenges that claim.”
