IN HIS first outing as golf’s new top dog, it was just the one hole that ruined an otherwise solid round from Jason Day.
Teeing it up at the par-71 East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for round one of the season-ending Tour Championship, the Queenslander posted a 1-under par 69.
But in the fourth and final FedEx Cup playoffs event, three opening birdies were erased at the fifth hole when Day drove it out-of-bounds and made a triple bogey.
Sweden’s Henrik Stenson leads at 7-under, with Englishman Paul Casey two back at 5-under and Rory McIlroy 4-under.
