Cottesloe’s name suggests a beachside layout, and it did begin life in 1908 as a nine-hole layout on the land now occupied by Sea View Golf Club. Nowadays settled on a parcel of land wedged between the Perth CBD and the Indian Ocean, Cottesloe Golf Club is more parkland in style with many holes cascading down or climbing up the rolling site.

The immaculate past West Australian Open venue has felt the architectural touches of Thomson Wolveridge Perrett and Graham Marsh. The former made adjustments due to boundary adjustments, but it was the latter who had the greatest influence. Marsh’s extensive masterplan was primarily completed to mark the club’s centenary in 2008.
