If you’re filling out a lottery ticket, placing a bet or in the mood for some bar trivia right now, you might want to get Scottie Scheffler’s advice. Scheffler is on the run of all runs right now, winning back-to-back events and defending his Players Championship title.
The money ($US8.5 million in the past two weeks), the accolades and the Tiger Woods comparisons are nice and all, but Scheffler’s also one round away from breaking an undersung golf record, one that truly signifies how terrifying he is every time he tees it up. The man has shot under par in all 27 of his rounds on the PGA Tour so far this season.

As Justin Ray notes, “It’s the longest streak ever to begin a PGA Tour season, and ties the longest streak of rounds under par in PGA Tour history.” Akshay Bhatia set the record of 27 straight with a first-round 69 at the 2023 World Wide Technology Championship and ended it with a first-round 75 at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open. Woods’ longest streak: 17.
Scheffler’s had only one double-bogey in 2024 (pointed out in the comments), which doesn’t hurt, and he limited himself to just four bogeys over 72 holes at TPC Sawgrass.
This also doesn’t even include December’s Hero World Challenge as it’s an unofficial PGA Tour event. Scheffler shot four under-par round of 69, 66, 65 and 68, finishing 20-under at the Tiger-hosted tournament and beat runner-up Sepp Straka by three shots. In Scheffler’s last official round of 2023, he scored 70 in the Tour Championship, and that was even-par at East Lake. His last over-par round came the previous day, when Scheffler shot 73.
This historic run comes in the midst of putting struggles for Scheffler, which honestly should be illegal. No golfer should be able to have problems on the greens and still shoot under par day in and day out. Now that he’s taken Rory McIlroy’s advice and figured out a few things, other pros might be in for a rude(r) awakening.
This streak doesn’t look like it’ll be stopping anytime soon. Hey Scottie, save some under-par rounds for the rest of us.
