When golf controversial commentator Brandel Chamblee suggested Rory McIlroy hits the weights too hard and will end up like Tiger Woods, the northern Irishman wasn’t happy – and he let us know.

On Tuesday, Chamblee expressed concern over McIlroy’s gym exertion during a conference call for the Florida swing, insinuating it could lead to a “destructive path” that took down Tiger Woods.

“I say it with a lot of trepidation, because it’s a different era for sure,” Chamblee said, “and I don’t know the full extent of what he’s doing, but when I see the things he’s doing in the gym, I think of what happened to Tiger Woods. And I think more than anything of what Tiger Woods did early in his career with his game was just an example of how good a human being can be, what he did towards the middle and end of his career is an example to be wary of. That’s just my opinion. And it does give me a little concern when I see the extensive weightlifting that Rory is doing in the gym.”

First, McIlroy responded to Chamblee’s comments with this:

And Rory just can’t seem to let it go. On Wednesday, the four-time Major winner showed he’s not forgetting those comments anytime soon. At his pre-tournament press conference for the Northern Trust Open, McIlroy went out of his way to mention the Golf Channel analyst — and he displayed a little more bite.
