If experience is the best teacher, then Adam Schenk and Harry Hall better hope to have been quick learners. You see their experience in contending in PGA Tour events is pretty minimal, neither having won a title as they share a one-stroke lead (at 10 under) on four-time winner Harris English entering Sunday’s final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial.

Schenk, 31, has twice been a 54-hole leader, most recently at the Valspar Championship in March, only to come in second to Taylor Moore. It was one of just one top-10 finishes in 22 starts during the 2022-23 season for Schenk who has still managed to rise to 50th in the FedEx Cup standings, an important threshold given that at the end of the season the top 50 will earn access to all PGA Tour designated events in 2024.

Hall, 25, is making in just his 26th tour start and has never been in this position entering a final round, his best career finish on tour being a T-7 at the Puerto Rico Open in March. The Englishman has earned just shy of $1 million in his career, with his biggest prize money payout to date a $204,750 check for finishing T-8 at the Shriners Children’s Open last fall. That’s not bad when you consider Sunday’s winner will earn $1.566 million from the overall purse of $8.7 million.

The biggest concern for Schenk and Hall is likely the “experience” among the chasing pack. English has four tour wins and is a seasoned tour player. Five shots back is Viktor Hovland, still on a roll after his tie for second at last week’s PGA Championship. The man he tied with, Scottie Scheffler, is six back as well, meaning he’ll need an impressive sprint at Colonial Country Club on Sunday to make a threat. Yet he’s not No. 1 in the world for nothing.

Here then are the prize money payouts for each golfer who made the cut this week at Colonial. Come back shortly after the conclusion of the event and we’ll list the individual names and payouts.
