Boy, do we have a feel-good story involving this week’s Valero Texas Open. Or, rather, a feel-better story.

It involves a golfer named Tom Adrounie, who somehow overslept his tee time for last year’s Monday qualifier for the event. And it wasn’t even close.

“Had an 8 o’clock tee time, think I was first off,” Adrounie recalls in a video shared by the PGA Tour. “I took an allergy pill the night before, Zyrtec, and I woke up at 8:30 a.m. My alarm was going off, my wife was calling me.”

Tough spot.

“And yeah, I missed that one,” Adrounie sheepishly adds.

Well, we’re happy to report that Adrounie picked himself off the ground mattress and gave the Monday qualifier another chance this week. Not only did he make his tee time this time, but he shot a five-under-par 67 to earn a spot in the field at TPC San Antonio.

Well done. As Wes Mantooth from Anchorman would say, “Today we spell redemption . . . T-O-M.” Now, just be careful about what you put in your body Wednesday night.
