Harrison Crowe has hilariously bet his father Tony that for every birdie he makes in the Masters, his dad and the other Crowe clan at their rented Augusta house have to skol a beer.

Crowe even joked on the TODAY show that he wanted to send his father home in an ambulance.

Crowe is in the Masters courtesy of winning last year’s Asia Pacific Amateur. But on Tuesday, after playing a practice round with Adam Scott and Cameron Smith, Crowe dialled down his ambitions for dad.

“It’s a birdie beer rule for most people in the house this week, yes,” said Crowe. “I think they’re doing it for themselves. The idea is to get these guys having as good a time as I am without getting themselves in trouble as well.”

Crowe has also picked the brains of Jason Day and Mini Woo Lee in practice rounds this week, before getting a dream pairing of Lee and Larry Mize in the opening round.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “They both have pretty good track records around here. It’s nice to pick their brains a little bit. For the most part, we had fun out there. It was awesome – the camaraderie around here this week. Got to play with J Day and Min yesterday. It’s been an awesome week so far, and it’s only the start of it.”
