Between the wind and all the WDs, it’s been a wild week at Torrey Pines already. But in terms of crazy happenings, nothing topped what happened to one PGA Tour pro during the second round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
It relates to the wind because Mother Nature blew so hard that play was suspended for a period on Friday. And as everyone who watches golf knows, that involves rules officials blowing a loud horn to signal play stopping.

You hope this won’t affect play, but sometimes, it’s inevitable. Who can forget Keith Mitchell (understandably) throwing a little tantrum as a horn went off during his backswing at the 2023 Players, resulting in a water ball? That’s rough.
And now you can add Adam Svensson to the list of horn casualties. This time, they got him just as he was stroking an all-important birdie putt to make the cut. You can guess what happened.

That’s brutal. Of course, even if the horn didn’t blow, there was no guarantee that Svensson would have made the putt. But you can clearly see his hand awkwardly come off the club right after impact.
Again, that hurts—especially given the fact that it cost him a paycheck. Although to Adam’s credit, he seemed to handle the bad break remarkably well given the situation. Canadians really are such nice guys, eh?
