The PGA Tour calls them additional events, but we know them better as opposite field events. And this week marks the first of the year at the Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande, which goes against the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The field of PGA Tour winners, future stars and newbies are playing for a $4 million overall purse with the winner taking home $720,000 for a victory.

Last year’s winner Brice Garnett is back to defend his title. Michael Thorbjornsen will make his sixth start of the year. England’s Matt Wallace won the Puntacana Championship two years ago and is in Puerto Rico. Seventeen-year-old Blades Brown, who turned pro earlier this year, is making his third start this season.

Rookies in the field include Mason Anderson, Ricky Castillo, Will Chandler, Taylor Dickson, Steven Fisk and Matthew Riedel.

Here’s the rundown of what each player will earn who makes the cut. Check back here Sunday after play is complete for updates.
